Specialties

I enjoy working with a variety of clients and am interested in figuring out how you and I can work together as a team, regardless of your reason for seeking therapy. I do have a few areas of specialty as well, which are listed below.

Trauma/PTSD:

Survivors of abuse or trauma often feel hopeless about the effect that their experiences have had on them. The reasons that people can develop symptoms of PTSD are much more varied than you might realize, such as:

  • Childhood physical/sexual/emotional abuse

  • Painful and/or frightening medical experiences

  • Chronic discrimination based on race, gender, sexuality, or disability status

  • Witnessing violence

  • Car accidents

  • Severe bullying

If you think you may be experiencing symptoms due to trauma, there is hope. I have witnessed so many clients face what has happened to them with incredible courage and hard work, and who have gone on to lead meaningful, satisfying lives as a result.

Chronic health conditions:

Chronic pain and illness can present in many ways, but some examples include migraines, endometriosis, autoimmune disorders, fibromyalgia, tinnitus, digestive disorders, and long-COVID. Invisible illnesses, especially syndromes that are difficult to diagnose and treat, are incredibly exhausting and discouraging to manage day in and day out. You may feel dismissed and misunderstood by doctors as well as friends and loved ones. Others may tend to give you unsolicited health advice or express that they wish you would just get better already. You may even sometimes question yourself, and wonder if you’re exaggerating your own pain. I am here to tell you that your pain and disability are real, and to help you advocate for yourself while navigating a medical system that does not seem designed to help you.
